Sony Engineers Discuss the VAIO® | Flip PC

We play with and enjoy our gadgets daily, but have you ever wondered how they came to be? Perhaps why they are shaped a certain way? Why buttons and switches are situated in specific areas and not others?

It turns out that there are hours upon hours of work, thought, and care put into the conception of a product before it hits shelves.

One device in particular, the VAIO® | Flip PC, has an interesting story behind it because the form factor is unlike any other computer Sony’s created before. In designing unprecedented hardware that features traditional clamshell, tablet, and viewer modes, Sony engineers had myriad things to consider, including the hinges, thickness, touch-operated Windows 8 system, and more.
