Boys and Girls Club of America photography contest winners recognized in San Diego, wow us with their photos

by Kathleen 08/14/2013, in News

Last summer, we began a partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to share our love of photography with club participants. In addition to supplying 100 local clubs with the latest Sony camera gear, we also sponsor BGCA’s ImageMakers photography program and contest as well as the photo tech category of their Digital Arts Festival.

The goal is simple: To get youth excited about photography as a form of art and self-expression. While photography is a rewarding hobby, it can also be expensive. We want to encourage and inspire talent without the usual barriers to becoming a budding photographer.

Unsurprisingly, the BGCA members are a talented bunch! Nineteen winners were honored with a week-long trip to San Diego for a special awards gala at Sony Headquarters as well as visits to the Wild Animal Park, Petco Park, and La Jolla Cove. Check out some of the winning submissions below:

During the recognition ceremony, we hooked the winners up with Sony Cyber-shot® cameras so they could document their time in San Diego. Here are some of the photos they took throughout the week:

A huge congrats to all of the 2013 contest winners!
