Sony and Shopkick™ Partner Up With Free Headphones Bonus

by Gina 11/15/2012

The average shopper can save a ton just by looking. There’s the deal sites, the discount codes on Twitter and of course let’s not forget the traditional Sunday paper coupons. But if you’re like me, it’s not always easy to keep track of the specific rules or the plastic rewards cards. Enter Shopkick™. A free mobile based app for Android™ and iOS™ devices that has the reputation for offering customers great rewards for in-store participation at shops like Crate&Barrel™, Old Navy™ and Toys”R”Us™.

The news we want to share is that Sony Stores are now officially a part of the mix.  Now Sony Store shoppers can use the Shopkick™ app to earn “Kicks™”; points that can be redeemed for your favorite gear. To celebrate, there are a couple of special promotions happening between now and November 26, 2012. The first is that  Shopkick™ users can earn 200 kicks just for heading into the store “for walk-in” (ends -11/26) and to top that, Shopkick users can also earn a free pair of fashion headphones (restrictions apply*). Just show your unique Shopkick code to the Sony Store cashier and they’re yours.

If you’ve never used Shopkick, it’s easy. Just head to this link to learn more and download the app. Then you’re on your way.

Went to the Valley Fair Sony Store (in CA) on 11/20 and they ran out of headphones.

I also had trouble using Shopkick (to get kicks) in that store on my iPhone 5. Shopkick would sometimes complain about GPS problems, suggesting I go outside, etc. That store is not near an exit/entrance to the outside. (A worker did point me to the Shopkick unit mounted in their store.)

I finally did get a bad check in. It thought I was in a Best Buy Mobile, which I wasn’t.

Bummer… no 200 kicks and no headphones.

That’s strange. And unfortunately, the headphones deal went on for as long as supplies lasted. Let me send your feedback to the team. Appreciate you reaching out. Have a wonderful holiday!
