Let’s Get Nautical Recap & New Sony Flickr Challenge

by Katie 09/11/2012

Ahoy.  If you hadn’t noticed, there’s been lots of action over on our Sony Camera Club Flickr page as of late. Last month, we had a record-breaking number of photo submissions for our Let’s Get Nautical photo challenge (some real stunners below) and are nearing 100K photo uploads in our group pool. We’ve got talented photographers from all over the world, passionate about shooting the best shot and sharing their knowledge to help others grow their skills – quite the dynamic  group we’ve got here and we’re happy to share some the top photos from our last challenge bel0w.

Steveson Harbor shot by TrainerKEN

Caye Caulker Sunrise shot by Kevin Barrett

Starfish shot by Matt Trudeau

Thames Barse shot by Richard Brown

“This was was taken at Whitstable Harbour Day when traditionally the the Thames Barges, and other boats, have an exhibition race.  This one is the Repertor.”

Hoist the Main Sail shot by Ticknor Photo (Robby)

Shot was taken using the Sony Alpha a77 and a Tokina 11-16mm lens at 11mm. It is also an HDR image comprising 3 RAW images (-2 0 +2); the HDR allowed me to enhance the textures in the ropes, and still get the sky exposed properly”

Haven’t had a chance to check out our digs on Flickr? Not to worry. This month we’re all about music and we’re looking for your best music-inspired shot from any Sony camera model. What does music mean to you? Got an exceptional shot from your most recent concert or music festival outing? Inspired by something totally abstract? Here’s your chance to capture what music means to you on your favorite Sony camera and add to our pool of photography from photo enthusiasts all over the world. Find out more about the new challenge here.

What do you think about our favorites above? Which ones top your list?
