Bay Area Sony Store Gets a Facelift & It’s a Local Party

by Gina 05/07/2012

In the heart of silicon valley, our most recent redesigned concept store is ready for prime time. Beginning this week, the Sony Store at the Standford Shopping Center officially invites customers into an entirely new experience. For those local, they may have seen the beginnings of a new color palette and floor design. Similar to its predecessors like the Century City Store, these new stores have a design aimed at capturing the imagination of visitors.

For starters, window displays are replaced by interactive stations inside the store for techies to geek out on the latest PlayStation® games and Sony gear. For example, if you’re feeling snappy you can head on over to the camera station to test drive various Sony® cameras with plenty of miniature subjects ready for the spotlight. Audiophiles will have a chance to try on a huge variety of headphones, even able to plug them into their own personal devices like phones or an iPod®.

The stores also feature exceptional support from our passionate store team aimed at providing you with expert tips and everything from set-up and customization to installation and education.

To usher in the new concept design in true style, there’s a slew of local events happening this week. And don’t worry. If you’re not nearby to celebrate, we have a couple of opportunities for you to virtually join in on the fun.

  • Tuesday, May 8th: Our Google TV™ team pals are hosting a meet up at the store. Come kick it with Google TV for a night of networking, cool giveaways, and plenty of free grub & drinks/sprits (spirits reserved for those 21 and over). We will be talking about Google TV and all the latest features and updates along with a Hangout On Air featuring special guests from Revision3 including Rob DeMillo (CTO Revision3), Brian Brushwood (Scam School), Ron Richards (App Judgement & All About Android), Eileen Rivera (Twit TV) and David Prager (Revision3) along with a live panel from the Google TV Team and Sony. Plus you’ll get a special look at Sony’s next gen Google TV powered prototypes. Non locals can also virtually take part. Learn how here!
  • Wednesday, May 9th: Stop by the store for some free coffee from 7:30- 9:30 am at the University Café
  • Saturday, May 12th: Don’t miss out on the Grand Opening Event. We open at 10am though from 2-4pm, be sure to stop by for music and give-aways.

This is our fifth location featuring the new design.  Other redesigned locations include Roosevelt Field in Garden City, NY, Houston Galleria in Houston, TX, South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., and Century City in Los Angeles.  A directory of all Sony stores across the U.S. can be found here.
