Video: Sony's product life cycle is clean and green

by Team Sony 04/22/2012

Happy Earth Day, folks! In honor of today, we made an animated video depicting the life cycle of a Sony TV.  Check it out:

It’s not only our TVs that are made with recycled plastics, use less paper packaging, and are equipped with energy saving technologies. As part of our dedication to protecting and improving the environment, we measure the green credentials of all of our products throughout their life cycle — that means product design, procurement, manufacturing, transportation, use, and end of life product management.

Conserving resources, eliminating hazardous chemicals, increasing energy efficiency, reducing pollution and offering environmentally conscious products and convenient recycling opportunities to our fans are among many areas to which we’re committed.

Take our BDP-S185 Blu-Ray player, for example, which is 59% smaller and more energy efficient by 57% compared to the predecessor model (BDP-S370).

And our VAIO® S series notebooks are brimming with advanced technology for the best of both worlds in performance and energy efficiency. All models are Energy Star® qualified and EPEAT® (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Gold registered.

Check out our product innovation page on Sony’s new green web site to see more eco features on current Sony products promoting “more with less.”

In the spirit of Earth Day, Sony Headquarters in San Diego will be sponsoring I Love a Clean San Diego’s 10th annual Creek to Bay cleanup on April 28.

ILACSD invites SoCal’ers and San Diego residents to volunteer at various cleanup sites throughout San Diego County to help remove marine debris from our bays and beaches.
