Sony at South by Southwest 2011

by Team Sony 03/10/2011

Right now geeks around the world are charging their batteries, packing their power cords and getting ready to descend on Austin, Texas over the next several days for South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive conference and festival. From March 11th – 20th Austin is host to filmmakers, musicians and those of us who are interested in emerging technologies.  Sony will be there too and here is your quick guide to finding us in the festival chaos!

Sony Electronics at Mashable House

Stop by the Mashable House at Buffalo Billiards on Sunday March 13th and Monday March 14th for your chance to check out some of our latest Sony innovations. From Sony Internet TV powered by Google TV to Bloggie MP4 cameras, we will have an assortment of gadgets for you test drive and Sony experts on hand. Also, Mashable will have their annual Geek Games, (yes, I’m talking about good old fashioned Shuffle Board, Skeet Ball in addition to Sing Star Dance and Geek Trivia) with a grand prize of a 46” Sony Internet TV! There will be a whole host of products given away during the Mashable activities so make sure to RSVP, stop by and say hello.  If you’ve been to the conference before you know MashBash is one of South By’s most popular networking parties, you can RSVP for it here: Official MashBash SXSWi 2011 Party

PlayStation Central

This year the Playstation crew will have their own space on the corner of 2nd and Trinity, and they’re converting it to PlayStation Central for SXSW Interactive. Check them out on Friday and Sunday for two Playstation Fan meetups.  It’s your chance to play Ratchet & Clank All 4 One, Resistance 3 and win PlayStation prizes.  RSVP for Friday, March 11,  5:00pm - 8:00pm or Sunday March 13, 3-6.

Last, a film called The High Level Bridge is screening during the Film portion of the conference. The documentary short, created by filmmaker Trevor Anderson was shot entirely on a Sony Webbie MP4 camera. The film was part of the AFI Fest presented by the American Film Institute, where the jury awarded it an Honorable mention, it was screened at Sundance, and now will be part of the Documentary Shorts screening at SXSW. Find out more about the film and screening times.
