New Custom Built VAIO S Launches on Sony Style

by Gina 01/09/2011

Just when you thought the CES fun was coming to an end…The VAIO S isn’t a new laptop per se but the announcement of a custom built option is certainly welcomed. This little mobile machine originally launched in Spring of last year and is a lightweight option for a road warrior or a business traveler. All VAIO S models (be it pre-built or custom built) have 13.3 inch displays. The computer is about 1” thick and weighs just over 4 pounds. So again. Pretty light.

In terms of custom options, you can get up to a Ci5-580M processor, up to 256GB SSD*  and include up to 8GB RAM. One of the popular features on select VAIO PCs is the backlit keyboard which is available on the S. There’s also options for a Blu-ray® disc writeable drive, Windows 7 Professional and NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics card with 512MB of VRAM.

If you select an Intel graphic option, then that makes your system WiDi compatible meaning you can wirelessly stream your PC content to an HDTV**.The S comes with a magnesium casing and G-Sensor™ Shock Protection technology which helps protect your laptop against the daily bumps we tend to put our computers through (now if only it had technology against little chocolate covered fingers, we’d all be in heaven).

Plus to keep things fun, the Sony Style team is offering a free upgrade to Ci5 processor with custom built models that add Windows Professional.

Now if you’re looking for a pre-built version, models purchased at all S series models come with an extended battery.

The VAIO S comes in Black and Silver though Sony Style just added the VAIO S laptop to its Signature line. Signature models launched in (2) limited edition colors of wavy black and wavy white. Signature models also come with 512MB dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 310 graphics.

Custom VAIO S models start from $874.99.

Customisable? Where is the option to choose the OS? Windows or Windows??? That’s not really choice, eh?

Howdy guest. For VAIOs, Windows is the main OS but if you have requests of what you’d like to see, happy to pass it along.

I’m soo ready to see what Sony has in store for the Winter Signature Collection. I’m hoping they come back out with Crocodile Print Signature for the EA. I love that HOT PINK Crocodile Print. I was hoping that the Arabesque EA was offered in Hot Pink but that didn’t happen. GINA, when do you think the new Winter Signature Vaio Collection will be released?

Hi, when is the EB series (15″) going to get updated? Is it typically beginning of February? Thanks!
