One day left to take the two chapter challenge

by Team Sony 08/17/2010

How long does it take you to get into a book? If I can get past the first chapter or two, I’m usually in for the long haul. Now, for those of you who made the switch from paper to ebook, how long did it take you to get used to the new format? I received my first Sony Reader a month ago, a pink Pocket Edition which goes just about everywhere I go. The transition time from paper to eInk was zero for me. It’s been a pleasure.

The Sony Reader team also subscribes to the philosophy that a couple of chapters with a Sony Reader will have you hooked. They began the Two Chapter Challenge which means if you buy a Sony Reader from Sony Style, try it for two chapters, if you don’t love it you can return it within 30 days of your purchase. The challenge ends tomorrow, so if you’ve been teetering on the ebook or not fence, it’s time to try!

Find out how you can take advantage of the Two Chapter Challenge from the new Sony Reader Store page on Facebook. If you’re a Sony Reader fan, or just a fan of reading, make sure to hit the like button. There are some great conversations about reading and books there and if you have a story to share about your transition from paper to ebook we’d love to hear your experience.

I love my Sony 505 (I’ve had it for 2.5 years and it still works like a charm). It took me no time at all to adjust.

But there are 2 things that Sony needs to address: (1) the failure to release a firmware upgrade that incorporates the latest ADE and (2) the absence of new competitive models, especially at the 8- or 9-inch screen size.

Rumor has it that there will be an announcement of a new 950. If so, perhaps I’ll buy it, but what I really want is that 8- or 9-inch screen size so it is easier to read newspapers on the device. However, I won’t buy any new Sony device if it doesn’t have the newest version of ADE so I can buy ebooks not only from Sony but from others as well.
