Last week, one of my favorite little Sony devices was featured on “The Today Show” segment called Jill’s Fun Finds. It’s the Party-shot personal photographer, an innovative little camera dock that pans, tilts, adjusts composition and takes pictures for you. That means, while you play social butterfly, people at your event or party will be captured in pictures without you having to hire or be the party photographer.
Party-shot works with TX1, TX-7 and WX1 Cyber-shot® cameras. It taps into the Face Detection and Smile Shutter™ technologies to automatically take photos of people at your event. To frame the pictures, Party-shot uses the rule of thirds, a photography technique that sections the image in 9 equal parts, then uses the grid lines put the subject in an ideal location of the composition. At the same time, the motion detection seeks out movement to take the photo at the right moment. You can see the smile detection in action from the video below, which waits for you to shine your pearly whites before it takes a photo.
I suggest mounting the Party-shot personal photographer on a tripod then putting it in a spot where people can stop, strike a pose and have their photo taken. Just about every time I’ve seen the Party-shot demo set up, people can’t help but smile once they realize what’s going on. It’s kind of a fun part of the party.
For me, looking at photos from a party or event on Facebook or Flickr is almost as fun as being at the party itself. Jill called it one of her favorites, I second and if you agree, then Party-shot paired with a compatible Cyber-shot camera is a must for your next event., looking at photos from
