Are you 3D Ready? Sony Sure Is

by Team Sony 02/11/2010

Sony announced the availability of new 3D ready Blu-ray players and home theater systems. If you’re interested in 3D in your home, then a 3D device to provide content is one essential part of the equation. We are one step closer to bringing 3D entertainment into homes as the Sony BDP-S470 stand-alone Blu-ray 3D-ready player will be available in Sony Style Stores next month. With a firmware upgrade coming later in the summer, this player as well as some other Blu-ray Disc devices (models BDP-S570, BDV-E770W and BDV-E570) will be 3D compatible, which means after the firmware upgrade these devices will be ready to work with other 3D devices you need to enjoy the experience at home.  3D Bravia Televisions are coming soon, they will be available in the summer so if you’re looking for a new Blu-ray Disc player, now is the time to consider 3D.

Besides 3D, the Sony BDP-S470 brings you a wealth of content once connected to your home Internet broadband network. Streaming movies from Netflix and Amazon Video On Demand has become easier than ever and you can access YouTube videos to watch on your big screen,  too.  The Sony BRAVIA Internet Video platform delivers content from over 25 providers including Slacker Internet Radio, NPR, Sony Pictures, Sony Music, Pandora (coming this spring), and more.

There are a few other cool things to note. First, if you’re movie fanatic, these new models come with Sony’s Entertainment Database Browser,  which uses Gracenote technologies to access movie info like actor or production information from your Blu-ray Disc.  There is also a free app your iPhone or iPod touch called “BD Remote” that’ll turn them into a remote for your player. Your “BD Remote” allows you to control the machine and it lets you brows and display additional information like jacket artwork. Finally, the time between inserting your Blu-ray Disc and playing what is on it will be much faster with a new quick start feature.
