Professional's Take: Me Ra Koh Hosts Photography 101 Class at Sony Style

by Gina 12/11/2009

are some teachers were you listen and some teachers were you learn from. Professional photographer and Sony Artisan of Imagery, Me Ra Koh, is the latter. And I’m not saying that because she works with Sony. It’s legit.

For those who don’t know Me Ra, she’s a self taught photographer who turned her passion into a full blown career being spotlighted on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Martha Stewart TV and on VH1′s Fabulous Wedding series.

Sony Style had the privilege of hosting Me Ra for a 2-day photo lecture tour. She spoke at select Sony Style stores in Southern California sharing tips on taking the next step into the photo world past your point-and-shoot camera.

My pal and Sony Electronics video blogger, Sukhjit, put it perfectly the other day. “For beginners, she takes the fright out of what you would normally view as a giant black box”. Over 40 people packed each store to hear her lecture which centered around demystifying photography and turning the process of taking photos into an enjoyable and easy thing. Me Ra shared tips on capturing the story, and how to use your camera to get the desired effect. She also advised on which cameras to start with, which accessories you need (and don’t need) and how to use your camera’s features to give you the best shots without the confusing techno speak.

I wanted to share this info because we’re continuing to create opportunities like this and offer our store visitors with more tutorials, tips, events and lectures so that you get the absolute most out of your Sony Style experience. After reading this, what other kinds of lectures or events would you like to see? Which products? As we develop events, we want your input so feel free to share your requests here. They do get heard.

Many thanks to Me Ra (and all those who attended). If you didn’t make itl, I encourage you to check out her DVD, “Kids in Focus” and view our events calendar for more fun things happening in your area.
