Greetings — Rich Marty, vice president of business development for Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE), reporting from the SPHE / Sony Electronics (SEL) BD-Live Experience press event in San Francisco, California. Today we are here to share some exciting new developments in Blu-ray technology.
Along with my SEL colleagues, I am thrilled to demonstrate new Blu-ray and BD-Live features as well as to showcase the ever-expanding plethora of hardware that enables consumers to enjoy a cutting-edge, high-definition movie experience.
Earlier, the SPHE team presented a first look at movieIQ a new BD-Live feature powered by Gracenote that provides live, updatable in-movie filmographies, soundtrack information and production details while you watch a movie.
movieIQ, is designed as a practical application for Blu-ray movie fans who believe that movies should be a compelling, connected, “always on” experience. It’s a perfect addition to our growing list of BD-Live features and we’re eagerly anticipating its September launch.
The event itself is a collaborative effort between SPHE and SEL, with the VAIO team presenting their sleek new VAIO NW Blu-ray enabled notebook. This continued “Sony united” approach is the ideal way to bring Blu-ray to a wide variety of consumers, whether they’re into enjoying high-definition content at home or on-the-go.
