Bloggie Touch Software now available for Macs

By: | Posted: 1/28/2011

If you’ve purchased a Sony® Bloggie Touch HD Camera and use a Mac computer to manage and upload your photos and video, this blog post is for you. While the camera has always worked with Macs, the software that comes onboard has been limited to PCs. Many Bloggie Touch fans have told us that you want to take full advantage of everything the Bloggie camera has to offer, including the onboard software, so we’ve made a Mac version of it available as a download from Sony’s eSupport site.

Check out this quick video I made to walk you through the basics of getting the new Mac version of the software. In the video you’ll also get a peek at the interface, so if you’re looking for a streamlined way to share, sort, edit and post your photos and video, take a few minutes and get to know the Bloggie software.

Keep in mind, this update is for current Bloggie Touch models that are on store shelves right now including the MHS-TS10, MHS-TS20 and MHS-TS20K. When the new Bloggie Entry, Bloggie Duo and Bloggie 3D (aka MHS-FS1, MHS-FS2 and MHS-FS3) become available, the updated Mac-compatible software will already be on board. Keep an eye on our blog for price and availability for the new models. In the meantime, have fun with your Bloggie camera and if you like, send us links to your favorite Bloggie-captured photos and videos!

Some of our favorite Sony moments of 2010

By: | Posted: 12/30/2010

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2010 I wanted to take a minute to look back at what has been an incredible year at Sony Electronics. 2010 is the year Sony brought the 3rd dimension into your homes and Google search on to your HDTV. It’s the year that among the world’s firsts, Sony boasted the release of the first interchangeable lens consumer camcorder for under $2K, the first DSLR camera with translucent mirror technology and the first HDTV powered by Google TV. This year has been a whirlwind of Sony announcements, events, launches, awards and partnerships.

Our year began with the Consumer Electronics Show and the unveiling of our new lines of products including 3D enabled HD BRAVIA® televisions, then the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) show where we gave the world a first glimpse of what many Sony fans now covet the NEX-3 and NEX-5 cameras. And in the spring the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show where the cameras, switcher and monitors that help bring you your favorite movies, shows and events were on display for the professional world.

We’ve had countless meetups from coast to coast in cities like San Francisco, San Jose, Miami, New York, DC and our hometown, San Diego. We brought the Sony experience to music festivals all summer long starting with Coachella and ending with the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. We took part in events like South by Southwest Interactive and Blog World 2010.

It’s been a busy year and a great year and we wanted to thank all of you who made it possible. From the fans who send us messages on Twitter, Facebook and on our blog  —to the Sony employees who make all of these products come to life and create these amazing events to allow you to experience our latest and greatest.

We appreciate your support and your passion for Sony Electronics.

As we get ready to say goodbye to 2010 here’s a Sony Year in Review video. It’s a look back at the events, products, fans and just plain Sony fun.

I’ll talk to you next in 2011 and we’ll start it all over again with CES! Keep your eyes open for info on what we’ll be doing in Las Vegas this year. Back by popular demand is the live stream of the press conference on Jan. 5, 2011 at 5 p.m. Pacific time and this time we’ll have a surprise for those of you online right after the press event. Stay tuned for more info. We wish you a wonderful and happy holiday season.

Sony Dash in the Kitchen

Sony® Dash™ trending on holiday gift lists

By: | Posted: 12/11/2010

Maybe it’s the recent addition of Hulu Plus or the special sale price that just went into effect, but this week one Sony device in particular has popped up in a number of suggested gift lists, the Sony Dash personal internet viewer. One article from Fox.com even mentions Sony Dash in its Best Gadget Gifts for Moms list! I actually had a chance to talk to some moms recently about what they thought of Sony Dash. Watch this video and find out exactly what made these moms say “oooh” and “awww” then imagine how this suggestion will help you cross off names on your holiday gift list. (BTW- Dash is at a special price for the holidays – $149 down from $199)

Sony Dash is, as you know, a completely customizable product.   We think that’s one of the best things about it – you can add apps and create channels for the things you like or want to see.  With Dash, you get real-time information you’re interested in and that can be something as simple as a real time stream of your friend’s Facebook photos, Twitter updates, CNBC news and stock information or your favorite TV shows via Hulu Plus.

As you can see in the video, each mom had their favorite thing about Sony Dash, from Flickr to LOL Cats to simple recipe and weather apps. I don’t know about you, but I think the reactions to the content popping up was priceless!

Now, take a look at this week’s top 10 most popular apps. What combo of apps on a Sony Dash would make this a fun gift for the people you love?

New Image Walkman Sports

Everyone has Sony Walkman player story, don’t they?

By: | Posted: 10/25/2010

By now you’ve heard the news. Sony Walkman player, the cassette tape version that reminds just about everyone of younger days, won’t be sold in Japan anymore. I’ve sat here following the story as it’s been shared on major news sites as well as smaller technology blogs and on micro sites. It seems as though news about Walkman players creates some great passion around the globe. Before anyone gets too teary eyed, you should know that although the cassette Walkman players won’t be available in Japan, they are still being manufactured and sold in markets like the US, where there is still demand.

The “Walkman” name has evolved over the years and is found throughout Sony’s MP3 Player lineup. The W Series Walkman player is just one example. It’s an wire-free, water resistant (and yes, sweat resistant too) digital music player that is a and favorite among  runners, athletes and fitness enthusiasts across the globe.

We know many of you, as we do, have a special place in your heart for the World’s first portable music player.  If this news shook you out of your typical Monday and made you think of simpler times when a Sony Walkman made you feel like to coolest kid on the block, then I hope you’ll share your story.  My first Walkman player got me some hot water. It was the pre teen beginnings of me getting in trouble for not listening to my parents (Sorry Mom and Dad, it’s because I couldn’t hear you!).

So, what’s your Sony Walkman player story?
