So we all have our special places where we can finish a few chapters from our favorite books. In the car, in a plane, on the throne (come on…there’s even a Seinfeld episode about it) but I must admit, if there was a prize for most unique reading spot, commercial divers Mark Thurlow and Robin Jacoway would earn top marks and even higher ones for using their Sony® Reader™ Digital Book. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Sony team up to create the ultimate eBook reading community
The woman known as the ultimate taste maker, always knowing “a good thing” when she sees it, is starting a new section of her personal blog called “Book’s I’m Reading” and you are invited to read along. Sony is launching a first of its kind reading community around what Martha Stewart is reading that will merge the traditional book club with digital reading. Just picture this, reading along with Martha Stewart, getting access to the authors of those books and the ultimate reading tool, a full touch screen Sony Reader.
Here’s how you can be a part of the “Books I’m reading” experience. Find out what book is on the list each month from The Martha Blog. Share your thoughts on Twitter by including #BooksImReading in your tweet. Sony will host a regular sweepstakes giving away one Reader Pocket Edition™ each week. You can find the official rules at marthastewart.com/sony-sweeps. By the way, the lucky winners get their choice of silver or pink and they can have their Reader personally engraved at no charge.

Sony Reader plans global expansion
In the years since Sony unveiled the first eReader in the U.S. back in 2006, the demand for digital books has skyrocketed. Sony today announces plans to make the Reader available to even more people around the globe including Japan, China and Australia, Italy and Spain.
“Sony’s strategy has always been to make the Reader a global product and we’ll take a thoughtful approach to country expansion that will consider not just the hardware experience within these new countries, but the content experience as well.” said Steve Haber, president of Sony Electronics’ Digital Reading Business Division.
In each country Sony intends to work with local retailers, publishers and distributors to introduce the Reader along with a host of local content to help ensure the best possible reading experience.
Last month the Sony Reader Store reached the 10 million eBook download milestone and is now working toward having relevant, local language content available through our own or local affiliated book stores as we enter new countries.
Today, the Reader is available in eight countries across the world, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. Sony’s Reader Store is currently available for users in the United States and Canada.
We will share availability, pricing and pre-order information as it is released and in the meantime, we look forward to adding more photos from you to our growing album of Sony Reader owners from around the world.
Ten Million eBooks Download
The Sony Reader team has some great news to share – this week the 10 millionth ebook was downloaded from the Reader Store! To celebrate we’re giving a $10 credit towards a future ebook purchase to everyone who bought an ebook from the store on May 5th, that’s, the day we hit 10 million. Video Demo of the Reader Daily Edition in Wireless Mode
Since we posted our first article about the new Reader Daily Edition back in August, we’ve gotten a ton of responses on our blog. We also saw a flurry of excitement when our resident video blogger from Sony Electronics, Sukhjit, posted a first time look at the Reader Daily on YouTube. Since then, we’ve been working on getting our hands on a Reader Daily so we could give you an in-depth look at the newest edition to the Reader family including 3G wireless connectivity. This video features our resident expert Matt Shenker where he takes you through a full unboxing and powering up of the Reader Daily Edition. I find unboxing videos helpful since I get to see all the components included in the box and get a better sense of a product without having to leave my chair. Since we only had the unit for about an hour, we taped feverishly to show you as much as we could. This is really our first unboxing video at Sony Style and I’m always open to your feedback so if you’d like to see more (or less or different) videos like this, let me know and we’ll get taping.
