Do you share fun moments with your friends on Facebook or post your original video creations to the Internet via YouTube? If you don’t yet, and you feel like it’s time to start, the new Sony Bloggie Touch announced today will inspire you.

Style, design and function are better than ever on this latest version of the Sony Bloggie™ Touch MP4 cameras, the MHS-TS20 and MHS-TS10. Ease of use was important in the new design that includes just a few simple hard keys and vibrant 3- inch capacitive touch screen for easy operation. You can record video, snap photos, or even both at the same time. The touch screen also has a “touch and flick” recording control, search and playback operation, as well as a simple Share-it-Later function so you can tag clips and pictures you want to remember.

This is a great feature if you capture lots and lots of clips and want to easily note favorites to post quickly for your friends on Facebook waiting to see your latest adventure! My typical process for sharing video is to view and identify clips after uploading them all on the computer. With this new option clips are already selected so it’s simple and faster to share.

The Bloggie Touch also has embedded memory, 8GB on the MHS-TS20 and 4GB on the MHS-TS10, allowing you to capture approximately four hours of video. Both models capture full 1920x1080p high definition MP4 video and 12.8-megapixel photos, and are equipped with a F2.8 wide angle lens and a sensitive Exmor™ CMOS sensor. This means you’ll get more of the scene with high resolution video and crisp still photos with less noise, even in challenging lighting conditions. You can even get up close to the action with 4x digital zoom and auto focus capabilities, including Auto Macro and the ability to focus sharply on objects inches away. A couple other key features to note are improved image stabilization for smoother video and face detection that enhances faces by automatically correcting the exposure.

There is a built-in USB arm for easy uploading and charging. And for the ultimate viewing party, an HDMI output lets you enjoy your masterpiece on an HDTV. If you can gather an audience, then sharing your vacation video and home movies has never been easier!

The MP4 format is perfect for sharing videos on the web. Once you connect the Bloggie to an internet-capable and compatible computer via the built-in USB arm, use the pre-installed Bloggie software to import and drag and drop your content to edit, organize or upload to sites like Facebook®, Flickr®, Picasa™ and YouTube™. The built-in software also helps you connect to Sony’s Personal Space, which allows you to share your photos and video privatley with people you select. Registered users have the abillity to invite those you choose to view your content via an email with a link to the space. Personal Space is a solution for those not looking to broadcast via Facebook, YouTube or the like and is more convienient than emailing big files and attachements.

Look for the new Bloggie in October at Sony Style stores and Sony retailers. You’ll get a choice of silver and black, with the 8GB MHS-TS20 at $200 and the 4GB MHS-TS10 at $180.

And by the way, the video footage captured on Bloggie can be shared via the USB port to some new S-Frame digital photo frames also announced today.

Two of the three models, the DPF-XR100 and DPF-VR100, offer AVCHD video playback, so when you shoot with cameras like the Bloggie Touch or a Handycam camcorder,  the footage you play back on the high-resolution WSVGA LED backlight LCD screen will be displayed in vivid colors and contrast. The feature I will use the most is the Sweep Panorama playback, which lets you showcase beautiful panoramic photos taken with Sony Cyber-shot® cameras.

I’ll have a closer look at the new S Frames in the days ahead. For now find more info on the Bloggie Touch and the new S-Frame digital photo frames on Sony.com/news.

Have I overlooked something or does the Bloggie MHS-TS20 have no simple way of shooting video in standard 9×16 mounted on a tripod? The camera must be held sideways for shooting video. Okay for handheld but the tripos screw is only for vertical framing. Frankly, I find vertical framing useless for videos or stills.

Hi Ozzie, I found a workaround to this, on a standard tripod with a tiltable top you can put the camera on then tilt the top panel. Let me know if you want me to post a picture of what I’m talking about. I’m out of the office today, but could do a demo next week when I’m back at Sony HQ.
