Introducing Sony’s new flagship compact camera & waterproof Handycam®

by Kathleen 06/06/2012

World, meet the Cyber-shot® RX100. While this new camera is small, trust me – it isn’t your Mother’s point-and-shoot.

The RX100 contains the world’s first 1.0 inch type Exmor® CMOS Sensor with a resolution of 20.2 effective megapixels. This sensor, 4 times larger than the ones in your traditional compact cameras, takes in more light during content capture and that, my friends, gives you b-e-a-utiful stills and crisp full HD videos.

It’s also stuffed with advanced features that you’ll find in our α range of A-mount and E-mount cameras, but I won’t rattle on and let Anthony and Mark Weir from Sony’s imaging team give you the 411 instead. Check it out:

Also, we unveiled tonight the latest addition to our Handycam family – the HDR-GW77V camcorder.

It’s waterproof (down to 16 feet!), dustproof, and shockproof so you can bust it out and capture your memories in pretty much any environment. Click here for full product details.

How come I haven’t seen this on a commercial?

I really like the newer sony caemars because they are very unique and different from the competition including this a77. But I find their products are way overprice. This camera with the 16-50mm f2.8 lens costs $2000, way to much if you ask me, at least compared to Canon.

I’d sure like to see a waterproof housing for the RX100 to protect it in the kayak!
