VAIO Refreshes Line for Winter Season

by Gina 10/02/2011

Fall is in full swing and as we unpack our fall sweaters, it’s also time for a refresh in our computer line. Today, the Sony VAIO® division released a variety of updated models in preparation for the approaching holiday season. Available today on the Sony Store website, this newest season update reveals not only new CPU options but a few other enhancements. Here’s the latest and greatest to share…

New Options on the S Series Line

This year, the VAIO® S series made its debut and continues the trend by offering a new screen size option. In addition to the 13.3” screen size of the VAIO SA model, folks can now take advantage of the S series features in a 15.5” model which is referred to as the VAIO® SE model; particularly helpful for those who tend to watch movies on their laptop in full HD. Other than the larger screen and dedicated 10-key, the VAIO SE features are very similar to its smaller sibling with the thin (under 1”) flat design, AMD Radeon Hybrid Graphics (up to 1GB VRAM) and the optional sheet battery that can double your battery life*. What’s also nice to see is that the pricing of both the 13” SA and the 15” SE start at about $999.

Now there was also a slight update in the VAIO SB with a new color option of red added to the existing choices of black, white, blue and pink.

And if you were curious about CPU, the VAIO® SA, SB, and SE series now feature the latest 2nd generation Intel® processors ranging from Intel® Core™ i3 to Core™ i7 processor options.

New Software Added to VAIO F Laptops and VAIO L  Desktops

In this refresh, not only will only will the VAIO F® and VAIO® L computers now ship with the latest 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors, the team also added some new pre-installed software. The Sony Imagination Studio™ Multimedia Edition is now included in both series which comes with Vegas® Movie Studio HD Platinum, Sound Forge® Audio Studio, and ACID® Music Studio. Helpful for those audio and video projects and over a $200 value.

And with the newest generation of Intel® Core™ processors now available, we updated CPUs on the VAIO E and VAIO C series with the VAIO E available with up to a Core™ i5  and VAIO C processor available up to Core™ i7. And just in time for the holiday, the VAIO Y now offers a model in black rounding out the options of silver and pink.

On top of all the refreshes, beginning 10/6, VAIO customers can experience a Music Unlimited basic plan free with a 180-day trial for first time Music Unlimited subscribers. It’s got everything from new hits to classics and indies to superstars – ad-free with unlimited skips.

Be sure to check out our entire VAIO line up here and if you have any questions about our newest changes, don’t hesitate to ask.

I really want to see an improvement in the graphics video card of the Sony F, for the latest games is not fully useful the current one. At least someone of the Nvidia GTX series, it really would be great.

    Hi,

I’m wondering which F series to buy: current (e.g. VPCF22L1E) or new (as described above).

So VAIO F series laptops will no longer come with Adobe Photoshop Elements?

Are the screens still matte, as they are in 22* models?

What’s the performance gain from newer Intel core?

Hi Guest, Thanks for posting. I hope I got all your questions :)
Re: the software -that’s correct. The F Series now ships with Sony Imagination Studio Multimedia Edition. This includes Vegas, Sound Forge, and Acid Music Studio. For screen matte, all F Series feature a Full HD LCD with a matte finish. And as for the performance gain the second gen processors, The F22 models had an Intel Core i7-2630QM processor, running at 2.0GHz. The F23 models start at an Intel Core i7-2670QM, running at 2.2GHz. Higher performing Core i7 processors are available also. Hope this is helpful and thanks again for posting.
