What’s the first thing you think of when you see the picture above? If you’re a VAIO owner, then you’re probably noticing the remarkable new slim design of the VAIO® Z. Many of you have asked when a new Z would hit the street, here’s what was just announced.
At 2.5-pounds, the aluminum and carbon fiber chassis is just 0.66-inch thick and has dual solid state drives on select models. Here’s a piece of trivia for you hard core VAIO users: The material that makes this computer is the same flexible and durable carbon fiber material used to make Formula 1 race cars.
Also new, the VAIO Z comes with a groundbreaking new concept for ultraportable computers, the Power Media Dock™. The Power Media Dock actually contains the laptop’s graphic card, an AMD Radeon™ HD 6650M graphics card with 1GB VRAM. Taking the graphics card out of the computer makes it thinner and keeps it cool. The dock is your gateway to adding up to 4 full HD displays to this machine. Plus it has a USB (1 x 3.0 and 2 x 2.0), HDMI® and/or the VGA port and and Ethernet port.
Watch this interview with some of the VAIO Z designers and you can see a demo of the new Power Media Dock.
You can get up to 8 hours battery life on the new VAIO Z with an option to add a large-capacity sheet battery that can extend the battery life to up to 16 hours. The sheet battery is an added accessory that comes in very handy for those on the go.
