by Team Sony 10/04/2010

By now you’ve surely heard the rumors about Sony Internet TV with Google TV. You know—the first HDTV powered by the Google TV platform so you can watch TV and surf the Internet simultaneously. It’s a multitasker’s dream device.  We’re getting close to launch and to get you pumped we’re giving away 5 Sony Internet TVs to 5 lucky winners over the next 5 days.

How can you enter? Simple, you have 2 ways to participate. Send a tweet to @SonyElectronics letting us know how you multitask using media and include #sonyinternettv in the tweet.  Not on Twitter? No problem. Leave a comment to this blog post, following the same rules and you’ll be entered too.  We know 140 characters isn’t much, but be creative and feel free to use things like pictures and video.

Our panel of judges includes Chris Pirillo, Jon Rettinger and Toby Turner. They are powerhouses when it comes to creating shows online and reaching fans with their blogs. Need some inspiration on what to “Tweet”? We asked Toby Turner, AKA Tobuscus to help. Watch his video, be inspired and send us your entry! We can’t wait to begin announcing the winners! Good luck!

Google tv on Sony sounds interesting combination to have.
I multitask with media everyday. Watching TV news while updating with the blog posts, reading news and replying emails. Watching Standup comedy and working out at the same time in my living room.

Even reading my technical document is not without multitasking with online streaming music.

When I watched the video about Google TV, I said to my son, “Hey, that’s what I’ve been doing for years – I’m a multi-tasking media fiend.” To prove it, check out a screenshot of my computer desktop. On it, you’ll see that I have windows open for watching TV, tweeting on Twitter, and uploading photos to Flickr. I’ve also got applications open for creating family videos and listening to music. Those are just some of the things that I do whenever I’m on my computer. Here’s the screenshot: http://twitpic.com/2vayd8 (or full-size: http://twitpic.com/2vayd8/full). Sony Internet TV with Google TV is the product for someone just like me. I can’t wait to see it in person.

@SonyElectronics Google TV looks freakin awesome! Not to put on a charade or anything but I’ve yet to buy an HDTV and I own zero Apple products, placing me among the throngs of people excited for this :) With a GoogleTV enabled TV I could finally enjoy gaming in HD as well as multi-task, looking up actors and voice actors for my favorite shows using Google Chrome, while still watching the episodes in the smaller screen! #SonyInternetTV

I’ve been a media multi-tasker since browser windows were invented. I have a multitude of windows open on my computer at any instant in time. For example, I’ll be streaming either a live or recorded TV show in the background because I prefer to hear noise while I’m working (silence drives me crazy). If I’m not streaming video, I’ll have a music application playing in the background. In other windows I’ll have my e-mail open, my Twitter feed open, and my Flickr photostream open. Then I’ll have software applications running, most likely a video-editor or a photo-editor – and more often than not, both. Here’s an example of what my desktop looks like: http://twitpic.com/2vd1zm/full
It’s easy to switch back and forth between all those windows because I’m fairly proficient at multi-tasking. The busier I am, the happier I am, and the more productive I am. That’s why I can’t wait to see a Sony Internet TV with Google TV in action. It sounds like a piece of equipment that would easily assimilate into my media multi-tasking life.

I’m am officially entering the contest! What is so fantastic about the Sony Internet TV is that you can Multitask all in one room! hahaha Yes, Gene(now 80) and I would love one! Why? Well in the winter when it’s too cold to be outside on the front porch Gene can sit on the couch and create his Paper Mache Masterpieces! (geezerart on YouTube) while checking out TV, other artwork on the internet, and I can follow the adventures of my friends on Facebook and Seesmic while creating something out of ceramic clay. The Sony Internet TV would change and enhance our lives. Love you Sonny!

if I had #sonyinternettv .I could check on work, answer my phone and keep up on my email or all of my “social friends” simultaneously.
I could be feeding my animals on Facebook ,planning my next trip with Google, and in-between checking the weather for next week in Illinois.
As I contemplated how to edit my pictures into video to download to youtube, I’d watch a movie or another video for inspiration. After I’ve searched for the perfect potpie recipe,I’d play some music, get up and do some moves of my own_only to come back later to “regular” TV
I could be the envy of all my neighbors!

@SonyElectronics Whenever a show has a commercial break I can’t help but find myself bursting with questions and comments. During those periods I always hop on my IM client, and try and figure out the plot with one of my friends currently watching the same show. I hate having to work with a bulky full keyboard or hold a heavy laptop on my lap. This would revolutionize the way I experience tv shows and movies. I wonder how the quality of this screen compares to my Sony Bravia, I love how clean the image is.

I rock the multitasking world with my video camera in front of me, recording a Vimeo vlog; one laptop to the side, updating my new-ish rugby blog, a cell phone in one hand, texting the wife in the living room about what we want to cook for dinner that evening; and a video game controller in the other hand, whacking zombies right and left as I make the world safe for non-zombiekind! And this Sony-Googley TV will make a that a little bit easier on the hands. #sonyinternettv :-)

    3. recording my favorite TV programs and watch them once Kids go to bed
    4. having video phone call to my parents or friends with ear bud to avoid disturb kids
    5. remotely log into my office to do some works without sitting in front the “tiny” computer/laptop screen.

When I watch a TV show, I usually surf the Web looking for the answers and info regarding real and even imaginary circumstances of the show. For example, for “The Event” show I browsed for similar cases of DNA deviation, for an aircraft mysterious disappearances.
Another point of interest, when watching TV, is an Internet surfing for the “lawfulness” of the decision making processes by “good guys” within the shows.

Technically, it can be just a separate surfing on the computer concurrently with a show, or using picture by picture mode when connecting my computer to the TV .
